Elisa

Gibson

Elisa has been training professionally for over 10 years. She trains pet dogs, therapy dogs and service dogs. Elisa is a certified AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy and Canine Good Citizen evaluator and an Animal Behavior Mentor. She is also a registered professional member of the International Association of Canine Professionals. Her lifelong passion for animals turned into a fulfilling career as a dog trainer. Elisa loves the outdoors and exploring new places with her personal dogs

Conquering a Puppy's "Sensitive Period of Socialization"

Meet Joey & Pippen! Both puppies came from @cnrfarms1 and doing #puppyprepschool They are both 8 weeks old and we are introducing them to new objects today. You might be wondering why the puppies and I are playing puppy parkour. Puppies go through a “sensitive period of socialization” between approximately 4 and 14 weeks of age, when they are most open to experiencing new things/ sounds/ people. During this time, your puppy’s brain is developing and creating a virtual blueprint of what they expect to see in the world as well as determining what is safe and what might be dangerous. It is important that your puppy has positive experiences with a variety of different people, dogs, objects and places during this time. Of course, we are trying to keep it as upbeat as possible and you should always watch your dogs body language.
